GENERAL STATEMENT

Under the supervision of the Fitness Manager, the Weight Room Attendant monitors the weight room and exercise area and orients members on the various machines and equipment in those areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Learn how to properly operate weight equipment and machines as part of training.

2. Report equipment breakdown or misuse of equipment and furniture in ASI Recreation.

3. Learn rules and regulations of the facilities as part of training.

4. Supervise recreational facility usage as designated by supervisor.

5. Model, promote, and consistently enforce ASI Recreation policies.

6. Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures.

7. Clean and maintain exercise equipment.

8. Provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for staff and participants.

9. Attend staff meetings and trainings.

10. Maintain complete client files and tracking sheets and ensure confidentiality of client information by following HIPAA compliance.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

Minimum or no previous work experience required. Experience in customer service is ideal. Kinesiology majors are preferred but not required. Must be enrolled at California State University, Long Beach in at least six units and be in good standing.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Knowledge and Abilities

Successful candidates will possess the ability to connect well with students. Must be willing to work with an ethically and culturally diverse group of student staff and volunteers. Exceptional customer skills, dependability and punctuality are a must. Must be able to work under moderate supervision.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Schedule

The applicant must be available to work evenings and weekends during the academic year. Hours during summer and winter breaks are to be determined by supervisor.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
