Work Schedule:  This is an unbenefited position without guaranteed work hours and less than 1,000 hours per calendar year. Schedule consists of various hours: mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:

The Library Assistant (Admin. Support II) may be assigned to work at any of our (8) eight library locations as required by service needs. The selected applicant will be responsible for providing interactive quality customer service. The work environment is very busy, requiring energetic individuals very skilled at collaborating with diverse staff and customers. The employee in this position must be able to assist with many staffing needs including programming, cashier duties, shelving, maintaining appearance of all materials, technology assistance, reference questions, reader's advisory, and resource assistance. The physical duties include; lifting, pushing (40 lb.), stooping, walking, standing, and using step stools. This employee must maintain a reliable means of contact ( i.e. home or cellular phone) and must be able to work the hours required which include weekday mornings, evenings and weekend hours.

The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 2+ years of work experience with computers, including MS Word, Office, Internet
  • 2+ years of face-to-face customer service experience in a library "OR" retail environment

 

An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):

  • 1+ years of experience working in a library
  • Experience using an Integrated Library System (ILS)
