We are looking for a talented CUSTOMS COMPLIANCE COORDINATOR to join our specialized Logistics team at Cummins in San Luis Potosí, SLP. (Hybrid position: 3 days on-site, 2 days remote).

 

 

Responsibilities

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead the foreign trade team to ensure compliance with customs, tax, and fiscal laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Responsible for researching, executing, and/or leading process improvements to comply with customs and/or export control regulations.
  • Coordinate customs compliance supervisors, develop talent, and manage external consultants. Oversee the customs operations team, including training on customs law reforms.
  • Define strategies for the implementation of federal and state law reforms, as well as international treaties.
  • Manage projects and governmental requirements related to customs and trade.
  • Review customs law reforms and coordinate with Tax, Legal, Fiscal, and Manufacturing departments to ensure due diligence.
  • Develop and implement strategic projects, presenting results to management in Mexico and the U.S.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree. Preferred majors: International Relations, Foreign Trade, International Business, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong experience in government management and legal interpretation.
  • Solid legislative knowledge of customs law reforms.
  • Experience engaging with industry chambers.
  • Strong knowledge of international treaties and Incoterms.
  • Experience in customs documentation audits.
  • Knowledge of Non-Tariff Regulations and Restrictions (RRNA).
  • Highly desirable: Previous experience in consulting firms such as Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, or Niuko.
  • Experience with IMMEX Seciit, Prosec, or Maquila schemes is desirable
  • Familiarity with software related to customs operations (Annex 24 & 30, accounting policies, etc.) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of tariff classifications and product classifications is desirable
  • Experience in people management and/or project management is desirable.
  • Intermediate English proficiency desirable.
