OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To manage the end-to-end editorial and production process for the Children’s list, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and budgets, while effectively coordinating with internal teams, external stakeholders, and freelancers.

STAKEHOLDERS FOR THE ROLE

INTERNAL : Editors, Designers, Sales and Production

EXTERNAL: Freelance editors/proofreaders/indexers, Authors, Illustrators/designers, Typesetters and printer

ROLE CONTRIBUTION AREAS 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

• Personally copy edit and proofread the allotted titles from the Children's list.
• Oversee and provide in-house support
• Liaising with authors/freelance editors/indexers/proofreaders/typesetters/designers as and when required
• Maintain the highest quality editorial standards and deliver zero-defect, error-free, well-designed, comprehensively edited CRCs for all these titles
• Plan and hand over all these titles as per the publishing schedule
• Assist the backlist programme by keeping track of titles coming up for reprint and providing correction pages as and when required
• B3 (metadata) updation of respective title
• Working on the Children’s catalogue with all stakeholders (quarterly).
• The company would be open if you would like to acquire a few titles for the Children’s list and extend your support to work on them for the next steps.
• Maintaining a quality pool of freelancers
• Managing Freelancers, their payments and budgets for freelancing cost

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in the humanities/English/social sciences
• 5-6 years of experience in publishing and/or allied fields and experience with Children’s content is preferred
• Excellent command over English language.
• Drive for results and passion for books & stories
