Individual should have 10+ years’ experience as a senior investing partner at a VC firm and 7-10 years’ experience in an executive operational role at a leading-edge technology company or as an Information Technology executive. Individual should have a strong track record with historical performance of portfolio companies, including companies sold or having gone public. It is expected that the individual will have served on several private company boards and will have strong relationships with the business development teams of leading technology companies. Managing Partner should also have a strong network with other VC executives, as well as important executives in the technology industry. Most of the responsibilities of an Investing Partner are also key for the Managing Partner, including analytical skills and ability to accurately value private technology companies and exercise good judgment with investments.
Candidate must be capable of leading a team of other VC executives, including investment staff and operational support personnel. Managing Partner must have the capacity to oversee all aspects of VC team, including reporting, audit, PR, budgeting, legal expenses, and marketing. The ability to convince founders to choose Seligman as an investor, for both board seats and to lead funding rounds, is vitally important, as is the ability to raise a dedicated venture fund from external clients. It is expected that the Managing Partner will take on the most board responsibilities of the members of the venture team. Individual should also help the broad Seligman Investments team with understanding how developments at private technology companies are affecting public ones, thereby benefitting investment performance of Seligman’s mutual funds and hedge funds. Lastly, the Managing Partner needs to be able to bring favorable publicity to Seligman and attract capable talent to help grow Seligman Investments and Seligman Venture Partners.
