PURPOSE
The Registration Specialist is a joint position between the Registrar’s office and the Office of School Improvement. The Registration Specialist serves as support to the District Registrar and the Executive Director of School Improvement. This position also serves as a liaison and support to parents and the community and summer school. Responsibilities as outlined below.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Obtain and maintain student state IDs from Department of Elementary and Secondary
- Education’s (DESE) MOSIS System (Missouri Student Information System)
- Respond to telephone inquiries from parents, real estate agents and others regarding attendance areas, boundaries, and registration information
- Assist with troubleshooting, planning, and implementation for student registration process
- Scan permanent records to digital format
- Provide backup for enrolling families to schools, as needed
- Assist District Registrar with special projects as assigned
- Provide support for Summer School registration and programming
- Upload and manage contracts for Board approval for School Improvement
- Assist in maintaining databases for workforce development
- Assist with management of ordering and tracking materials for School Improvement Department
- Perform various clerical duties and other responsibilities as assigned
- Understand and adhere to Board policies and procedures at all times
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

Reports To: Executive Director of Assessment, Intervention, Data, and Innovation
Supervises: None
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: High school diploma; Excellent organizational skills; Ability to prioritize workload, High degree of accuracy, and computer proficiency. Must be or be able to become a Missouri Licensed Notary.
Preferred: Two years of clerical experience

the job.
Reasoning: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Solve a variety of
problems in many different situations. Interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule
form. Demonstrate executive functions such as planning, organizing, remembering, and regulating information
and behavior as they pertain to student performance and achievement. These are essential functions of the job.
Technology: Present information using a variety of media/technology sources. Access and create reports using
the District’s student information software and databases. Readily utilize smart boards, projectors and other
instructional technology provided by the district. Adhere to all District policies and procedures regarding
technology use. These are essential functions of the job.
Physical demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10
pounds of force on a regular basis, and considerable dexterity in operating office equipment. Consistent and
regular attendance is an essential function of this position. These are essential functions of the job.
Environmental conditions: The work environment is consistent with a typical office environment. The individual who holds this position may be required to work irregular or extended hours. These are essential functions of the job.
