We currently operate in the States of Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado and Michigan as a medical and/or adult use cannabis provider to patients and customers. Job Summary:

The Automation Technician is on the forefront of driving manufacturing process innovation and process optimization within a cannabis cultivation and processing facility. The Automation Technician is part of a team responsible for improving and implementing manufacturing processes, supporting daily operating site engineering challenges, and standardizing best practices firm-wide across multi-state operations. The Automation Technician will report to the Director of Controls and Automation and work closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Safety departments.

Duties and responsibilities or (Essential Functions)

  • Lead local process optimization efforts in product manufacturing, packaging, extraction, refining, plant processing and harvesting.
  • Assist with processing and manufacturing equipment selection, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Commission new equipment and train operators.
  • Manage 3rd party vendor relationships, staying on top of newest technologies and innovations.
  • Analyze operating data and monitor process efficiencies.
  • Support manufacturing facility expansions and new facility layouts.
  • Frequent travel to other manufacturing locations as needed for providing engineering support.
  • Prepare project plans, schedules, budgets, and interim reports.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment. Identify potential root causes using a systematic logic-based approach
  • Work with maintenance technicians to determine if the problem is electrical or mechanical and assist with mechanical work, if necessary. Replace or repair damaged electrical components (e.g., contactors, breakers, fuses, drives) as necessary

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or related field (electrical or mechanical preferred) or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3+ yrs. of related work experience.
  • Pharmaceutical and/or Food process/packaging is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Highly autonomous and productive in performing research and manufacturing support.
  • Must be detail oriented, and organized to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Strong product safety, team, customer, and quality focus.
  • Proficiency in standard office software (Google, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • CAD or process modeling software experience is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability, specifically around mechanical and low voltage controls situations.

Working conditions

  • Able to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing, and warehouse environment.
  • Able to work in typical agricultural conditions, wearing cover-all uniforms and/or protective layering.
  • Able to kneel, bend, reach, rotate, and stoop on an intermittent to regular basis daily.
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands or feet, reach with hands and arms, and ability to lift up to 45lbs without assistance.
