A registered professional nurse responsible for the delivery of patient care to inpatients and outpatients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Must be able to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures. Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. Population of these patients varies from adult to geriatric patients.

Employee must be available for all schedules cases and be able to reach the hospital within 30-minutes when on call.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine)
    • Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
    • CPR
    • ACLS within 3 months of hire
    • Nurse(s) Required Training and Experience (established by IAC, Intersocietal Accreditation Commission)
      • 5.1A Nurse(s) Required
      • Training and Experience
      • 5.1.1A The nurse(s) must be
      • licensed and meet at least one of the following criteria:
    1. Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN)
      1. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life
      2. Support (ACLS) certification are required.Advanced health care degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
        1. Certification in interventional nursing specialty such as Cardiac Nurse
        2. Practitioner (NP-C),
        3. Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Cardiac
        4. Vascular Nursing (CVRN), Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN)
        5. In addition to the credential of RN: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) with the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
            • 5.1.3A For adult cardiovascular catheterization:
            • Cardiac rhythm recognition required
      • Nurse(s) Required Training and Experience (established by IAC, Intersocietal Accreditation Commission)
      • 1.5.1.2A  At least two years of critical care and/or emergency room and/or cardiovascular catheterization nursing is required.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • BSN, MSN

      Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

      • Demonstrated ability to work well within a patient care team.
      • Ability to adjust to sudden changes in case volume and patient care acuity
      • Able to communicate with patients and other staff - verbal, auditory, and in written form using Augusta Health documentation
      • Strong critical care competencies with cardiac rhythm recognition.
      • Experience in resuscitation and code situations
      • Experience and training in the use of the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
      • Experience and training in Hemodynamic Monitoring
      • Experience and training in the use of Point of Care testing, such as iStat,
      • Accucheck, Oxicom, Hemochron
      • Ability to accept criticism and persevere to improve personal performance
      • Ability to coordinate patient care with other hospital services
      • Ability to promote and maintain Augusta Health's mission and service standards
      • Ability to prioritize service functions
