Position Summary 

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and administration of policies and programs that ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace. This role helps maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a strong culture of safety and environmental stewardship across the organization.
 

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; recommend corrective actions; point person for all worker’s comp claims. 
  • Coordinate employee safety training (OSHA, PPE, hazard communication, ergonomics, etc.).
  • Maintain safety records, training logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable health and safety standards.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental regulations (EPA, state, and local).
  • Track and report environmental data (waste, emissions, water usage, recycling).
  • Assist with hazardous waste management, chemical inventories, and spill response planning.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and environmental improvement programs.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports and documentation.
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Maintain and update EHS documentation, permits, and records.
  • Partner with leadership and employees to promote a safe and environmentally responsible culture.
  • Assist in developing and leading emergency preparedness and response programs.
  • Lead Safety Training as part of the Onboarding process for all new employees
  • Lead bi-weekly Safety Committee Meetings; create agenda, take notes, and send out meeting notes after each meeting
  • Organize Safety Patrol each month and follow up to make sure all items are completed within a timely manner
  • Coordinate with the local fire department to organize fire drills 
  • Lead Safey Shoe program with Grainger
  • Conduct Daily Safety walks throughout the building and maintain fire extinguishers and eye wash stations, check forklift, crane, etc. 
  • Present safety results at Monthly Town Hall meeting
  • Complete all reporting for Corporate office on EHS initiatives 
  • Work with Continuous Improvement Specialist on initiatives related to EHS
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects assigned by management.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years of EHS experience in manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training and engage employees at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Safety/environmental certifications (OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, CPR/First Aid, CHMM, CSP, or similar) preferred.
