Frederick County Fire & Rescue is seeking a highly skilled Fire & Rescue Instructor (Part-Time) to deliver high-quality education and training in EMS, fire suppression, hazardous materials, and technical rescue. Position Duties

Key Responsibilities

As an Instructor, you will:

  • Deliver instruction in EMS, fire suppression, hazardous materials, and technical rescue.
  • Serve as lead or assistant instructor for assigned courses and programs.
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and facilitation of training exercises, including “All-Hazards” scenarios.
  • Acquire and manage equipment, facilities, and personnel needed for training activities.
  • Support the implementation of the Career Development Program and Training Division initiatives.
  • Maintain and inspect training equipment, rescue apparatus, and facilities.
  • Provide emergency medical care and support during training and emergency incidents when required.
  • Complete all course-related and departmental reports and documentation in accordance with SOPs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have held it for at least 2 years
  • Valid Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level or higher is required.
  • NIMS: ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-700, and IS-8000 certifications required.
  • EVOC Class I, II, and III certifications.

Fire Instructor

  1. Firefighter Level I and II Train-The-Trainer
  2. Firefighter Rescue and Survival Train-The-Trainer
  3. Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Train-The-Trainer
  4. Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course (Vehicle Classes 1, 2, and 3) Train-The-Trainer
  5. Driver / Operator – Pumper Train-The-Trainer

EMS Instructor

  1. Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services EMS Education Coordinator
  2. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor
  3. Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course (Vehicle Classes 1, 2, and 3) Train-The-Trainer (Must be completed withing twelve (12) months after employment).
