Job Summary: 

Inspects and assures product part quality by utilizing a specialized combination of skills, knowledge, communication, and technical/mathematical abilities.  The quality technician is part of the quality team to help ensure quality and cost through process optimization. 

 Major Accountabilities:

  1. Inspects first build at the packing lines to ensure assembly meets requirements for fit, form, and function.
  2. Inspect boxes as they are being packed to ensure all parts are present and meet the requirements of their perspective drawings.   
  3. Record and maintain boxed units that fail to meet drawing requirements and notate for FPY.
  4. Assures product quality and manufacturing accuracy by recommending and following quality standards and procedures. The inspector understands and recommends improvements to manufacturing process setups to improve finished part accuracy and quality. 
  5. Maintains product quality documentation by keeping accurate records and files. 
  6. Ensures gauges and tooling are calibrated and maintains records for calibration due dates for Manufacturing
  7. Perform First Article Inspections for all first pieces produced at each machine and work station.
  8. Help identify, tag, and segregate defective materials as per the company non-conforming material procedures.
  9. Assures product quality and manufacturing accuracy by recommending and following quality standards and procedures. The inspector understands and recommends improvements to manufacturing process setups to improve finished part accuracy and quality. 
  10. Maintains product quality documentation by keeping accurate records and files. 
  11. Ensures gauges and tooling are calibrated and maintains records for calibration due dates for Manufacturing. 
  12. Liaison between manufacturing and engineering on design and/or manufacturing defects in order to facilitate disposition of the defect.
  13. Works effectively with team leaders and manufacturing planners to develop and maintain in-process and final inspections on manufactured or purchased parts to assure the parts are within tolerance or specification.
  14. Must have an understanding of mechanical part drawings, manufacturing work processes, geometric analysis, and part tolerances.
  15. Ability to read blueprints and/or customer drawings.   
  16. Understands the required specifications of customer quality requirements.
  17. Effectively use the measuring instruments to verify part accuracy and dimensions.
  18. Effectively interfaces directly with manufacturing and assembly resources during the manufacturing or assembly work process to help evaluate parts & process improvements.  
  19. Observe all safety rules/regulations and perform duties in a safe manner.
  20. Other duties as properly assigned.

 Working Conditions:

Working environment is generally favorable with adequate lighting.  Work may require bending, lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.   Pulling, pushing, sitting, reaching, and standing for up to ten (7.5) hours per day.  Must wear personal protective equipment as required.

 Minimum Education Required: 

High School Diploma or GED

 Minimum Years of Experience Required: 

One (1) year Quality Assurance experience.
