Interpret and fill prescriptions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Develops expertise in all areas of pharmacy distribution (order entry, pull and count, front register and patient care). Candidates must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a pharmacy technician training program.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be enrolled in or recently graduated from a technician training program (within 12 months)
Licensure/ Certification
Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee
Experience
Experience with use of office software computer applications and keyboarding preferred
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effectively reads, writes, speaks, and understands English; possesses strong telephone, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions; able to learn technical tasks including the use of automation
- Able to apply math skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast paced environment while staying organized and demonstrating attention to detail.
