Assistant Controller Summary
The Assistant Controller is key leader within corporate accounting responsible for the accounting/finance department with monthly financial close, monthly and quarterly financial reporting (internal/external), and other special projects. The assistant controller will take a strategic and service-oriented approach to working with the management of each business unit to provide analysis and advice to senior management. |

Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and oversight of Senior Accountants and Accounts Payable Supervisor.
- Responsible for coordinating accounting efforts related to mergers and acquisitions.
- Train and provide work direction to accounting staff related to issues of GL reporting, account reconciliations, etc.
- Assist with completion of divisional monthly, quarterly and year-end closings, including complex calculations and journal entries, and performance of financial statement analyses; Assist with preparation and analysis of reporting used for executive team leadership performance reviews.
- Coordinate and lead business unit specific and company-wide special projects assigned that will have a broad impact across the organization, including but not limited to internal control implementation, process improvements and business optimization, due diligence, data integrity initiatives, etc.
- Assist with developing and implementing processes for monitoring and timely communicating financial and operational performance at the site level, analyzing, identifying and communicating areas for operational and financial improvement, and implementing mechanisms for tracking of post-implementation results
- Assist management with annual budget preparation, as well as monthly / quarterly forecasting activities.
- Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
- Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree preferred; a combination of significant public accounting and industry experience is acceptable
- 8+ years of progressive accounting responsibility and leadership
- CPA preferred

- Very strong analytical and quantitative skills; experience with business operations beyond accounting.
- Adapt at project management, organization, and ability to remain calm under duress.
- Strong communication skills (particularly written communication skills).
- Strong technology aptitude and comfort level in working with systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.
- An interest and ability to learn new things quickly and an ability to interpret and understand complex rules and processes.
Physical Requirements:
- Operation of office equipment and using technology efficiently such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment,
- Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision,
- Occasional travel to business-critical meetings or events. Rare but on occasion.
