This role is essential in ensuring smooth daily operations, providing professional assistance to veterans and their families, and helping the department deliver timely and accurate services. Position Duties

  • Welcome and sign in clients, providing front-line reception services that ensure a professional and supportive first point of contact. Assist with form requests, including DD-214s, DMV's forms, tax forms, and guide clients in completing general sections as needed. Answer incoming calls, provide accurate information, and route inquiries to the appropriate staff.
  • Manage office organization by filing documents, maintaining advertisement information racks, and processing all incoming and outgoing mail to support efficient operations.
  • Monitor and maintain form inventory by ordering supplies and producing copies as necessary to ensure consistent availability for staff and clients.
  • Support administrative processes by entering data for monthly reports, and providing customer assistance at the computer workstation and copier.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in the assigned program area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary additional requirements:

Successful completion of Keyboarding, Customer Service, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel tests will be required. Candidates selected as qualified will be contacted via email by a Human Resource representative for testing.

  • Knowledge of the department’s mission, functions, and purpose, with the ability to clearly communicate this to staff, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines governing the assigned work area.
  • Knowledge of standard business practices and their application in official settings.
  • Knowledge of the County’s overall structure and the relationship between the assigned program area and the broader departmental mission.
  • Skill in operating within an assigned program area independently and with minimal oversight.
  • Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, including conducting business professionally in person and over the telephone.
  • Skill in researching, gathering, and conveying program-related information and instructions clearly and accurately.
  • Skill in interpreting and explaining technical aspects of program operations and organizational functions.
  • Skill in maintaining professionalism, tact, and courtesy when interacting on County business.
  • Skill in using technology to support business operations, including department-specific systems and software.
  • Skill in utilizing office software and a wide range of computer applications to produce accurate and timely work products.
  • Ability to compile and analyze information based on general instructions and present findings clearly.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and members of the public.

Conditions of Employment:

Successful candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with Cumberland County must pass pre-employment screenings, including criminal history checks and drug screenings, as required by Cumberland County Policies and Procedures, prior to beginning work or receiving a final offer of employment.
