About the Department
Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is seeking applicants for one 9-month non-tenure track (Qualified Rank) position as a faculty member of the BSN prelicensure program at the Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor level, starting August 2026. The curriculum incorporates a commitment to nursing, health care, leadership, development of clinical judgment, QSEN, ANA, and professional growth. This position is reviewed annually for renewal.

The mission of the BSN Program at Bowling Green State University is to prepare registered nurses to provide safe and quality person-centered care to diverse populations across the lifespan using evidence-based practice. Graduates will use leadership and clinical judgment skills to improve the spectrum of complex healthcare issues throughout Ohio, the nation, and the world. Position Duties
Facilitates learning primarily in the clinical, skills lab, and/or simulation lab by assessing the learning needs of the student, planning for the achievement of educational outcomes, implementing student learning activities and evaluating student achievement. Promotes learner development and socialization to the role of the nurse by providing resources to diverse learners and initiating appropriate referrals for students with academic difficulties. Participates effectively in continuous quality improvement, curriculum design and evaluation of program outcomes reflective of evidence-based practice, the school philosophy, and the university mission and vision. Provides leadership for change to promote an innovative and effective educational environment. Provides direction to teaching assistants and preceptors who are supervising nursing students in the clinical area (if applicable). Utilizes teaching methods which are evidence bases, varied and appropriate for the learning outcomes desired.
Teaching expectations include clinical, skills lab or simulation lab. Clinical and labs are all face to face. Clinicals are offsite within the Northwest Ohio area and will require driving to a variety of sites. Typical clinical hours range from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Lab hours range from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m or later. Evenings or weekends may be required. The teaching workload for a non-tenure track (qualified rank) faculty member is 80%. Grading of student paperwork is expected within defined timespans and may require evening or weekends to complete. Opportunities for classroom instruction (in both traditional and online formats) will be limited and available only as programmatic needs arise.
Service expectation is 20% of workload for a non-tenure (qualified rank) faculty member. Activities include professional service, community service, committee representation at the School, College, or University level, and student recruitment activities.
There is not a scholarship expectation for this position.
Minimum Qualifications
A master’s degree with a major in nursing by the date of hire; if the master’s degree is not a major in nursing, a BSN is required from an accredited program (or master’s degree earned by time of hire). At least 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse and an active, valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the United States (an Ohio license or multistate license is required by time of hire). Medical Surgical or Critical care experience required.
Preferred Qualifications: Certified Nurse Educator, previous teaching experience in a prelicensure BSN program, simulation experience, experience in an academic setting, and enrolled in a terminal degree program.

Unofficial transcripts of highest degree earned are required for candidates invited for in-person interviews. If highest degree is not in nursing, an unofficial nursing transcript is also required for the highest nursing degree obtained. Finalist will be required to submit official transcripts.
BGSU policy requires finalist to authorize and pass a background check prior to receiving an offer of employment.
