Employment Information: Full time, FLSA Exempt, 12-month, non-union position
Reports to: Director of Operations
Summary: The Information Technology Manager oversees the planning, implementation, and maintenance of an organization's technology infrastructure, including computer systems, networks, hardware, and software applications. They manage the IT staff, coordinate technology projects, develop and enforce IT policies, and ensure network security and compliance with industry standards at PSD.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of all campus-wide IT systems to ensure continuous, efficient, and secure operation.
- Respond to and manage technical support requests from staff and users, ensuring timely and effective resolution of all IT-related issues.
- Administer and maintain network infrastructure, including network switches and wireless systems, to ensure reliable connectivity throughout the campus.
- Monitor and manage internet filtering systems, including the Barracuda Web Filter and GoGuardian, to ensure appropriate and secure web access for both staff and students.
- Lead and coordinate a variety of technology projects, including computer setup, system configuration, hardware and software upgrades, help desk ticketing, asset tracking, research and evaluation of solutions, and vendor communications.
- Manage and monitor the school’s Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), virtual networks, and server environments to ensure system integrity, performance, and availability.
- Develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity protocols and strategies to safeguard organizational data and IT infrastructure from threats such as malware, phishing, and unauthorized access.
- Supervise and support a team of IT professionals, providing clear direction, mentorship, and performance oversight to promote a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Participate in strategic planning and annual budget development, ensuring that technology goals and expenditures align with the school’s operational and educational objectives.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance school operations and support long-term growth, scalability, and innovation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Head of School to support the overall mission and operational needs of the organization.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field – OR – an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and progressively responsible IT experience.
- 5+ years of progressive IT experience; supervisory experience preferred.
- Intermediate ASL proficiency required.
- Strong knowledge of networks (LAN/WAN), wireless systems, virtual environments, servers, switches, and firewalls.
- Experience with Barracuda Web Filter, GoGuardian, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Proven ability to manage IT projects, help desk operations, and vendor coordination.
- Skilled in asset management, ticketing systems, and IT budgeting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and user support skills.
- Familiar with FERPA, COPPA, and other education IT compliance standards.
- Flexible, collaborative, and service-oriented.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds (e.g., computer equipment, servers, monitors).
- Capable of bending, crouching, reaching, and working in confined spaces (e.g., under desks or in network closets).
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer or performing system maintenance.
- Manual dexterity to operate tools, keyboards, and electronic equipment.
- Visual ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Mobility to move throughout the campus and access various locations as needed.
