The Operations Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of complex process plant projects, with full responsibility for margin, schedule, quality, and risk across the assigned project portfolio. This role leads a team of Project Managers and drives project execution excellence by embedding process-driven ways of working, high technical standards, and disciplined commercial oversight.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a group of Project Managers delivering multi-disciplinary process plant projects across global markets.
  • Ensure delivery of projects in line with contract requirements, safety, quality, schedule, and financial targets.
  • Embed EPC project discipline across project phases including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and escalation support in legal and commercial matters, including variations, claims, contract negotiations, and risk mitigation.
  • Coach and mentor Project Managers to build capability in technical leadership, project delivery, and client engagement.
  • Set clear expectations for project reporting, including monthly status updates, invoicing milestones, and close-out documentation.
  • Promote consistent application of Jord’s project management frameworks and improvement of systems and processes.
  • Foster a safety-first culture and ensure risk assessments and controls are embedded in all project activities.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with engineering, procurement, fabrication, and site teams.
  • Maintain strong oversight of fabrication and site activities, including construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and performance assessments of the project team.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned to enhance future project outcomes.



Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process or Structural) and/or Project Management.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience managing process plant projects, including significant EPC experience
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts, project financials, legal frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing multi-disciplinary teams through engineering, fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases
  • Proven ability to lead by example, coach teams, and drive accountability
  • Technically strong with a sound understanding of engineering and fabrication practices
  • Experience in site execution (construction and/or commissioning) is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders
  • Process-oriented mindset with a continuous improvement approach to systems and delivery frameworks
