YOUR TASKS

 

•    You will assist in the practice-based teaching at the Art Studies program, particularly within the Research and practice curriculum, and more specifically the program-wide courses Research Skills I, Research Skills II (including a multi-day Touring Belgium excursion), Bachelor’s and Master’s theses (including collective sessions, guidelines brochure, organization of oral defenses), and program-wide excursions. The workload focuses on the beginning of each semester and during the exam periods. 

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

•    You hold a degree of Master in Art History (or related university degree). The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment
•    For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted
•    You are involved in other professional activities and/or you have demonstrable experience that may contribute to the quality of the practice-based teaching at the department
•    You are interested in a teaching assignment in the courses concerned
•    Any teaching experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended
•    You have demonstrable experience with academic research and academic publishing, and an interest in academic and/or project-based research and service provision.
•    You have a good and broad knowledge of the Belgian art world. An interdisciplinary interest in the fields of visual arts, music, and performing arts is a plus.
•    You have an excellent knowledge of Dutch, both written and spoken.
•    You are strong in academic writing and can perfectly apply the rules within the field of Art Studies (scientific apparatus).

 


WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

 

•    We offer you a 2-year appointment which will not be renewed. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University
•    Your appointment will start on November 1, 2025 at the earliest
•    Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP3. More information about our salary scales
