The Streets Division is responsible for the maintenance of over 287 miles of roadway, including: 100,000 lbs. of crack sealing annually, repairing an average of 2,500 potholes, more than 60,000 miles of plowing and deicing for snow and ice control annually, and more!
The Road and Bridge team is currently looking for a Streets Technician II or III, depending on qualifications/experience. Please see the Minimum Qualifications section below detailing the requirements.
Total Compensation Package
Salary Ranges (depending on qualifications): Technician II - $26.97 - $32.97/hour Technician III - $31.26 - $42.30/hour | |

Position Duties
Technician II duties:
Performs daily asphalt maintenance repairs, such as crack seal, mastic, pothole repair, and occasionally asphalt patching repair.
Performs road shoulder repair
Operates and performs preventive maintenance and routine repairs on equipment
Cleans and maintains shop building and grounds.
Assists in the operation of snowplows during inclement weather.
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Use hand tools to complete maintenance work.
Operates construction and maintenance equipment used in the department
Acts as a troubleshooter to resolve problems within a particular area of assignment.
May work as a field crew leader
In addition to the above duties, Technician III performs the following:
Under the direction of the Streets Foreman, complete daily and weekly work schedules
May assume responsibility for division activities during the absence of a Foreman
Provides on-the-job instruction and orientation to lower-level personnel as assigned
Assists in major maintenance and repairs to division equipment
Supervise contractual work at the direction of Streets Foreman
Minimum Qualifications
Technician II requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: 2 years of experience in any of the Streets Maintenances operational areas (including road and bridge maintenance, sweeping and drainage, and/or traffic control). Specific experience in road and bridge maintenance preferred.
Certifications - required with 6 months of hire
Class B Commercial Driver’s license with air brake and tanker endorsement
Flagger’s Certification
Technician III requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: 3 years of experience in any of the Streets Maintenances operational areas (including road and bridge maintenance, sweeping and drainage, and/or traffic control). Specific experience in road and bridge maintenance preferred. Some lead/supervisory experience preferred.
Certifications - required with 6 months of hire
Class A Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tanker endorsement
Flagger’s Certification
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry, DMV check, and pre-placement physical and drug screen.
Other Qualifications
Work involves on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed
Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and holiday work required
Required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects

Physical demands are described as Very Heavy Work (Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects)
Requires walking or standing to a significant degree
Work near moving mechanical parts
Work in year-round outdoor weather conditions
Use hand tools to complete maintenance work
