The salary in the Department of Water and Power is $81,515 to $101,288 and $94,231 to $117,095.

Position Duties
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with completion of 24 semester or 36 quarter units in either information systems, computer engineering, or computer science; or
- Successful completion of a two-year course of study in information technology (IT) from an accredited college or trade school with at least 12 semester or 18 quarter units in IT coursework and two years of full-time paid experience performing systems or programming tasks in a professional IT environment.

- Applicants must list in the Supplemental Questions section of the on-line application IT coursework, including courses taken in information systems, computer engineering or computer science. Applicants must list the course title, the number of units (semester or quarter), date completed, the name of the school, and the grade received. General education courses and elective units taken outside of the specified major/areas need not be listed. We recommend that applicants have their course work information at hand before going on-line to file their applications.

- Candidates completing the examination process will be contacted by the Personnel Department to provide required proof of qualifying degree, certificate of completion, and/or transcripts. For candidates who apply between Friday, June 5, 2026 and Thursday, June 18, 2026, it is anticipated that the on-line multiple-choice test will be administered between Tuesday, August 11, 2026 and Monday, August 17, 2026.

- Your rank on the employment list may change as scores of candidates from other administrations of this examination are merged onto one list.
- Your name may be removed from the eligible list after six (6) months.
- A final average score of 70% or higher is required to be placed on the eligible list.
- In accordance with Civil Service Rule, Sec. 4.24, review periods may be combined. Candidates in the examination process may file protests as provided in Sec. 4.20, 4.22 and 4.23 as applicable and within the required time frame; however, the Personnel Department may respond to and resolve protests prior to the establishment of the eligible list.
