EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 120 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated full time Youth Coordinator to join our Chance To Advance Program!

 

 

  • Salary: $25/ hour

  • Schedule: 9AM-5PM, Monday - Friday with flexibility to work up to two evenings per week and occasional Saturdays as needed.

  • Location: 320 Carleton Ave in Central Islip

 

 

 

Primary Purpose of Job:

 

 

The Youth Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that successful educational/enrichment programs are established and implemented to provide focused intervention to youth residing in foster care.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Arrange and oversee the Teen Enrichment Program with the implementation of educational and recreational enrichment programs in conjunction with community organizations and corporations.

  • Recruit prospective volunteer mentors from the Long Island community, interview and screen prospective volunteers, and assist with volunteer training and retention.

  • Coordinate and/or facilitate in-service trainings and/or workshops, as well as keep volunteers informed as to any pertinent training seminars.

  • Act as liaison to the volunteer mentors and assist them in targeting the needs of youth enrolled in the program.

  • Assist with measurement strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and provide monthly and yearly reports on quantitative and qualitative data showing program successes and areas needing improvements.

  • Maintain records.

  • Conduct home visits/assessments and monitor program participants on an as-needed basis.

  • Coordinate and implement the Chance to Advance Summer Camp and ensure adherence to State Health Department regulations.

  • Supervise unpaid mentors and volunteer staff camp counselors throughout planned activities

  • Perform all other relevant duties as assigned by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

 

  • High School Diploma or educational equivalent required, a degree in social or behavioral sciences preferred.

  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to motivate adolescents.

  • Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.

  • Must have access to personal automobile and possess a valid NY State Drivers license - this role will be transporting clients as needed in own vehicle if necessary.

  • Successfully completed New York State Mandated Reporter Training: Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect.

  • Must be certified in CPR, First Aid and AED by a State Department of Health approved training program.
