The Nutrition Services Aide Food Service Worker prepares, assembles, and serves meals to patients and staff while adhering to strict food safety, sanitation, and dietary guidelines, as well as providing excellent customer service. Key responsibilities include handling food preparation, maintaining equipment and cleanliness, managing inventory, and ensuring Guest satisfaction by meeting specific dietary needs and maintaining a positive attitude. 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Food Preparation and Serving: Prepare hot and cold food items, arrange food for serving, and portion and serve meals to customers. 
  • Customer Service: Greet customers, take orders, and assist with inquiries and requests. 
  • Cash Handling: Operate the cash register, accept payments,
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafeteria, serving areas, and equipment, including washing dishes and clearing tables. 
  • Stocking: Restock and maintain food, dishes, silverware, and other necessary supplies. 
  • Health and Safety: Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are followed to maintain a clean and healthy environment. 
  • Equipment Operation: Operate kitchen equipment, such as d grills or ovens. 
  • Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety practices and regulations. 
  • Customer Service Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse customers. 
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift, and carry heavy items. 
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to high standards of cleanliness and food safety. 
  • Teamwork: Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: 

Walking for up to 7 hours, 30 minutes at a time; sitting for up to 1 hour at a time and standing up to 1 ½ hours for 30 minutes at a time.  Frequently uses handling and occasionally twisting/turning, lifting (1-50 lb.), carrying (1-50 lb.), pushing (1-50 lb.), and pulling (1-50 lb.).  When performing essential functions, occasionally involves with stooping/bending, climbing, reaching above shoulder level.  Employee must have the ability to hear normal conversation, have general vision, far vision, and peripheral vision.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Customer service and/or food service experience preferred, but not necessary. On job training will be provided.
