General Job Description:   Implementation of Section 504 procedures in the assigned school(s) in order to help ensure appropriate supports are in place for students with educational disabilities who are eligible under Section 504.

 

Reports to:   Senior Executive Director of Special Services

 

Qualifications:   

  • Master’s degree or Doctoral degree from an accredited university. 
  • Certified, or eligible to be certified, by the South Carolina Department of Education as a School Psychologist, School Counselor, Special Education Teacher or Administrator.   
  • Previous school-based experience supporting students with disabilities preferred.   

Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Demonstrate outstanding written and oral language communication skills. 
  • Assist in the identification and placement of students with educational disabilities, including the facilitation of 504 evaluations/reevaluations across various disciplines.
  • Schedule and facilitate 504 team meetings. 
  • Facilitate 504 plan development with appropriate accommodations and services based on the identified needs. 
  • Provide parent notices and document parent consent. 
  • Distribute the 504 Plan to parents and relevant school staff. 
  • Provide consultation to parents, teachers and school administrators, as needed. 
  • Maintain adherence to evaluation/reevaluation timelines and annual 504 plan reviews.
  • Maintain case records on all referred students, and turn files in to the District Office in a timely manner once a 504 evaluation/reevaluation or annual/special review is complete. 
  • Conduct manifestation determinations when required for students eligible under Section 504. 
  • Serve as a liaison between the school(s) and District Office regarding Section 504 issues. 
  • Attend appropriate in-service training programs, staff meetings, and individual student conferences as requested by supervisor and in compliance with district guidelines.
  • Keep all student and school related information confidential in accordance with federal and state guidelines and Board policy.
  • Adhere to established federal, state and local laws/regulations and ethical guidelines. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration. 

 

Terms of Employment:  200 day contract (school year)

 

Salary:   Fort Mill Schools - Teacher Salary Schedule (prorated for 10 additional work days)


Evaluation:  Performance is conducted annually in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of professional personnel
