Supplemental Transportation Mechanic chez Union County Public Schools

The UCPS Supplemental Transportation Mechanic assists with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of district school buses and other vehicles to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of students. This role supports the transportation department by working under the direction of the lead mechanic and transportation director.

Qualifications:

• Must have successfully completed the state-approved School Bus Inspector Training for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Valid Kentucky driver’s license; CDL with appropriate endorsements preferred or willingness to obtain.

• Experience in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.

• Ability to maintain accurate service and inspection records.

• Strong knowledge of safety standards and preventive maintenance practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections of school buses and district vehicles in compliance with Kentucky state regulations.

• Assist with diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and safety issues.

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and parts used.

• Ensure all repairs meet state safety requirements and district standards.

• Respond to emergency repair needs as assigned.

• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation or designee.

Employment Terms:

• Supplemental position, hours as assigned.
