Reports to: Manager, Financial Reporting 

Purpose

The Financial Reporting Accountant is primarily responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly and annual internal and external financial statements. This role will record specific journal entries, prepare account reconciliations, and analyze balance sheet variances. Key skills for success include strong attention to detail, effective problem-solving, proficiency in Excel, integrity, and clear written and verbal communication. The Financial Reporting Accountant regularly interacts with the Finance management team and frequent collaboration with external auditors.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares annual audited financial statements, footnotes and supporting workpapers, including resolution of review comments from internal management and external auditors.
  • Prepares financial statements monthly in internal reporting packages for internal management review and delivery to private equity sponsors.
  • Performs technical accounting research & prepares documentation and memos, as appropriate.
  • Prepares monthly/quarterly journal entries for complex areas and completes associated account reconciliations.
  • Performs quarterly and annual variance analysis of balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepares quarterly debt compliance package.
  • Assists with preparation of annual 401(k) financial statements & supports external audits.
  • Gathers data to support annual insurance policy renewals.
  • Supports various audit-related requests and initiatives, including taxes, interim and planning.
  • Reviews and interprets contracts for accounting implications and to support ad hoc business initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Manager, Financial Reporting to support and/or lead departmental initiatives/projects, as appropriate.
  • Cross-trains and supports Accounting and FP&A team initiatives, as appropriate. 
  • Other projects as assigned.

 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in a public accounting or financial reporting role, Big 4 or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active CPA license, or currently working toward obtaining it.
  • Experience auditing or preparing US GAAP financial statements, including footnotes and relevant support package. 
  • Knowledge of US GAAP with demonstrated ability to research and interpret accounting guidance as it relates to business transactions.
  • Experience with accounting systems and tools, including NetSuite, FloQast, Excel, Teams, SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated commitment to completeness and accuracy in reporting with strong attention to detail.

Work Environment

This position works in a home or professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as reading or working with various forms of data for extended periods of time.
