Quality Technician 6am-6pm chez Southwest Steel Processing

Position Summary:

The Quality Technician ensures all forged and swage components and materials meet company and customer quality standards. This role involves performing dimensional checks, visual inspections, and functional tests on forged and machined parts. Working closely with finishing, forge, and swage teams, the inspector identifies non-conformities, supports compliance, and contributes to continuous improvement. This position plays a key role in maintaining product integrity and customer satisfaction in a heavy industrial environment.

Job Duties:

1. Performs detailed inspections of raw materials, in-process parts, swage, and finished forged products to ensure conformance with quality and engineering specifications.
2. Utilizes precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensional accuracy, weight, and required tolerances.
3. Documents inspection findings, test data, and any quality deviations in accordance with company procedures.
4. Maintains accurate and organized records of inspection results for traceability and compliance.
5. Assists in refining inspection procedures, checklists, and protocols to enhance consistency and accuracy.
6. Ensures all inspections are conducted in alignment with applicable industry standards, customer requirements, and internal quality policies.
7. Collaborates with forge, swage, and finishing teams to identify quality concerns and implement corrective actions promptly.
8. Participates in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and root cause analysis as directed by leadership.
9. Reports damaged or malfunctioning inspection equipment to supervisors and coordinates repair or replacement.
10. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Quality Manager or Supervisor to support departmental goals.

What you need to be successful:

- High School Diploma or Equivalent

- Valid Driver’s License

- Ability to stand, bend and walk for extended periods throughout the day

- Be able to life or move at least 40lbs
