Reports To: Route Supervisor

Pay: $43-$54.77/hr.

We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Driver to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 625 Charles St. in San Jose and limited job-related travel may be required. 


Position Summary: 

 

GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Driver to provide support to one or more facilities. This role safely operates company collection vehicles for the collection of a wide range of materials from residential and/or commercial customers.

 


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:  

  • Safely and effectively operate collection vehicle on a designated route.
  • Read work orders and maps to service customers identified on work orders or as assigned by Route Supervisor or Dispatch.
  • Accurately conducts pre and post trip inspections on collection vehicle in accordance with Company, State and Federal policies. Ensures all controls and safety equipment is in proper working condition. Notifies and reports any safety issues.
  • Steadily monitors the condition of the vehicle ensuring it is operationally prepared.
  • Provides professional and courteous services to customers daily. Contributes to the success of providing services in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensures all containers serviced are empty and leaves the service location free of debris and clean. Place all containers in properly designated areas.
  • Maintains a current and valid commercial driver’s license (Class A or B) and medical certificate.
  • Operates collection vehicles including mechanisms for dumping, loading, compressing, and lifting.
  • Informs Route Supervisor of any injuries, accidents, property damage or incidents.
  • Identifies all containers in need of replacement or repair and reports it.
  • Communicates to Route Supervisor and/or Dispatch of any service interruptions.
  • Completes all duties assigned by Route Supervisor or Dispatch as well as assists other drivers as directed to meet service recipient needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of customers as well as management.
  • Ability to work well with other employees in a team environment and communicate to ensure safety.
  • Ability to operate collection vehicles used by the company.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
  • Knowledge of relevant traffic laws, standard safety practices and applicable D.O.T. regulations.
  • Great time management skills and the ability to work well with others.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in commercial driving.
  • Current and valid commercial driver’s license (Class A or B) and medical certificate/ ability to maintain acceptable records and license.
  • Acceptable DMV record and acceptable D.O.T. record.
