FUNCTIONS:
To oversee all the unit programming, supervise residential staff assigned to that unit. Provide TCI Training.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit, supervise, train and evaluate residential counselors
Conduct interviews for potential new staff and facilitate department orientation.
Provide informal supervision through daily role modeling, feedback, and on the job training for unit residential counselors
Provide formal supervision by meeting with residential counselors on a regular basis. Formal supervisions may include written documentation.
Create a formal agenda and facilitate staff meetings.
Provide annual written performance evaluations for inclusion in employees’ personnel files.
Ensure effective unit programming
Create and distribute weekly unit work schedules, ensuring adequate and effective staffing is provided for unit programming and for all assigned meetings.
Ensure implementation of program policies and procedures.
Ensure therapeutic, trauma-responsive, age-appropriate routines, including chores and privileges. Create weekly outing plan. Record life skills training in each resident’s NYS Connections progress notes.
Ensure that the living unit is a clean, safe, therapeutic and trauma-sensitive environment.
Track unit inventories, submit purchase orders and maintenance requests as needed.
Submit monthly meal and snack reimbursement reports. Distribute weekly allowance and monthly treat money.
Maintain an effective communication system, both written and verbal, on the unit and throughout the agency. Ensure that unit logs and other documents are accurate and thorough.
Participate in making recommendations for reviewing and evaluating the residential program.
Provides for effective treatment planning
Develop ICMPs and other individual treatment plans for each resident in conjunction with other departments within the agency.
Ensure written unit reports are prepared and submitted to residents’ treatment meetings.
Other responsibilities
Assume Administrative Oncall duties in a 5-week rotation cycle with the other Program Managers.
Review, approve and submit biweekly timesheets for Residential staff
Maintain TCI trainer status. Attend yearly updates. Provide TCI training formally and informally.
Complete regular SOAR Surveys
Abide by the NYS Justice Center and the SAI Codes of Conduct/Ethics.
Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Residential Services.
