General Description and Classification Standards:
Plans, organizes, and directs inventory management activities encompassing procurement, receipt, storage, issuance, and repurposing consumable supplies and surplus items across various city departments. Manages loading and unloading trucks, ensuring efficient storage practices, item management, and accounting for various supplies, materials, and equipment. Duties include overseeing subordinate personnel, approving expenditures, developing accounting systems and controls, and
monitoring budgets.
Supervision Received:
Direction received is generally collaborative, focusing on end results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
• Establishes operational priorities by coordinating accounting and financial functions and programs.
• Develops, recommends, and negotiates contracts and requests for bids to enhance division programs' effectiveness.
• Administers significant contractual agreements, including drafting, negotiation, renewal, and payment authorization.
• Prepares monthly journal entries in compliance with GAAP and oversees service charge preparation.
• Assigns responsibilities, takes corrective actions, and motivates employees.
• Supervises, schedules, assigns, monitors, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff.
• Receive materials, check packing slips for accuracy, count materials, and pull orders, creating packing slips for supplying buildings with consumable supplies.
• Receive surplus items, repurpose materials, and load trucks for delivery.
• Track items through the system, monitor departmental vehicles for compliance with city ordinances, and store and inventory replacement parts for the maintenance department.
• Attend meetings for direction and information on upcoming projects.
• Perform performance evaluations, coach, and counsel employees as needed.
• Supervise the event set-up team, preparing venues for meetings, parties, and weddings.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of inventory management theories, procurement, and accounting principles.
• Knowledge of Word and Excell.
• Skill in analytical techniques, maintaining financial records, and communication.
• Ability to develop and use computer-based spreadsheets, reports, and financial records.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or public administration with three (3) years of inventory control and supervisory/managerial experience.
Equivalent professional experience may substitute for the required degree.
Licensures and Certifications - Fork lift certification.
Preferred Requirements - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or public administration with 5-8 years of inventory control management preferred.

Physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are necessary for job performance. Typical environmental conditions apply.
Lifting Requirements:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
Work Schedule:
This position follows the City’s hybrid work schedule policy as assigned by the Department of Human Resources Commissioner and requires in-person work at City worksites/facilities at least four (4) days per week, with the option to work remotely one (1) day per week, based on eligibility, departmental needs, and supervisor approval. The hybrid work schedule is subject to change at any time to five (5) days in-person work.
