The City of Norfolk's Maritime Center, Nauticus, is seeking multiple enthusiastic and energetic candidates for the position of Maritime Center Specialist I for Admissions. The Maritime Center Specialist I (Admissions) will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the admissions area. Work involves operating cash registers, providing guests with various information, and maintaining the assigned work area.

Nauticus is uniquely positioned on the campus of the downtown Norfolk waterfront, which also includes the Battleship Wisconsin, Sail Nauticus, and the Half Moone Cruise & Celebration Center.
Position Duties
Department Hiring Rate: $15.00/hourly
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Sells tickets and enters transactions into a computerized point of sale system.
- Handles cash, closes out and reconciles cash registers, makes deposits, and follows detailed cash control procedures.
- Assists guests with questions regarding facility services, programs, and tours.
- Greets visitors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency.
Six (6) months of cash handling and customer service or guest services experience is required.
The preferred candidate will have strong customer service skills and telephone experience
Other Qualifications
Work Hours: Up to 20 hours per week, shifts vary to include weekdays and weekends.
