Under minimal supervision, the Facilities Engineer – Senior is responsible for maintaining and repairing plant equipment, utilities, buildings, and grounds. The role involves overseeing critical building systems including electrical, HVAC, structural, fire/life safety, and industrial utilities, as well as leading new projects, contractors, and complex facility renovations. The incumbent will also mentor and coach junior engineers and technicians, ensuring reliability, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across all facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and control systems, including PLC logic, PLC programming, and SCADA automation systems.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of industrial utilities: chillers, compressors, cooling towers, HVAC, STP/ETP, DM plants, substations (22KV/440V), power distribution panels (HT & LT), DG units, UPS systems, fire alarm, gas detection, solar panels, water mist systems, and lifts.
- Conduct preventive and breakdown maintenance for dynamometers (Eddy current, Hydraulic, Regenerative, etc.), controllers, test cells, and related electrical equipment.
- Execute new facility projects, renovations, and capital expansions while ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to budget and timelines.
- Prepare and execute electrical safety work permits (general maintenance, work at height, etc.) and ensure compliance with HSEMS, LOTO, ISO-50001, ISO-9001, ISO-14001, and OHSAS standards.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as MSEDCL for utility management and regulatory compliance.
- Forecast and finalize annual expense budgets, monitor spend, and manage comprehensive AMCs and spare parts procurement.
- Drive energy conservation initiatives and environmental stewardship aligned with Cummins’ sustainability goals.
- Ensure emergency preparedness by managing fire, flood, and power outage risk mitigation systems.
- Train, mentor, and guide junior facilities engineers, technicians, and line workers on maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, and compliance practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, preventive maintenance, and projects.
Responsibilities
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in PLC and SCADA systems; ability to troubleshoot and program PLC logic.
- Hands-on experience with industrial utilities, HVAC, water treatment plants, power distribution, and test cell equipment.
- Knowledge of AVL Puma test cells is an advantage.
- Power Distribution Panels HT & LT, On Line UPS power distribution and Fire Alarm System, Gas Detection System, Water mist System.
- Proficiency in interpreting machine drawings, P&IDs, electrical SLDs, and applying industrial safety standards.
- Familiarity with ISO, OHSAS, and HSEMS frameworks.
- Strong project management skills, including capital project planning, RFA preparation, and contractor management.
