Position Purpose

Management of the Commercial Deposit & Lending department to include portfolio oversight, team leadership, and community outreach while maintaining and attracting profitable commercial deposit and loan relationships. Relationships include complex commercial real estate loans as well as a robust small business retail deposit and lending services platform. The primary goal is to expand lending and deposit services to the local business community.

Position Responsibilities

  • Establish and service a sound commercial deposit and loan portfolio by cultivating new and expanding existing business through an effective outreach program.
  • Evaluate, analyze, underwrite, create, and recommend commercial loan submissions for approval to the appropriate lending authority.
  • Embeds diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility (DEIBA) into your daily workflow.
  • Approve, decline or counteroffer loan applications as appropriate within assigned lending authorities.
  • Provide clear and accurate oversight of the commercial deposit and loan portfolio including the execution of account and loan agreements and perfecting TAPCO’s security interest, as needed.
  • Perform risk ratings and annual loan reviews that are accurate, timely and complete.
  • In partnership with management, develop and implement new commercial deposit and loan products and services.
  • Lead the Commercial Deposit & Lending Department staff in delivering efficient and effective service and support. 
  • Participate in various community service or social organizations on behalf of the Credit Union.
  • Partner with the business community to identify opportunities and seek input for the creation of small business products to meet demand.       
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of and adheres to the requirements of all related policies, procedures, rules and regulations required for position. 
  • Model a high level of customer service and professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of real estate lending including knowledge of all applicable laws, regulations and programs
  • Maintain an understanding of and adheres to the requirements of all federal, state, and local laws, including those of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), as it specifically relates to the job functions.
  • Assume responsibility for other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial financial services experience.
  • Ability to perform commercial credit underwriting.
  • Working knowledge of business deposit accounts and services.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing business lending practices.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to prioritize, organize, solve problems and work independently.
  • Experience managing teams. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Involvement in various community activities and organizations.
  • Demonstrated record of success in developing and retaining a commercial loan portfolio.
  • Experience in handling problem loans.
  • Credit Union background helpful.


Position Working Conditions

  • The work environment is an office setting. 
  • Travel to customer sites may be required – Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle.
  • Evening events to build relationships with the community may be required.


Salary:  $114,705.00 - $132,000.00 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
