About This Opportunity 

The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery of a key program of work aligned with HTQ’s Strategic Plan. This position is responsible for overseeing all stages of the project life cycle, from initiation and planning through to implementation and evaluation.

The role requires strong skills in developing and managing processes to track progress and outcomes, ensuring that deliverables are met to a high standard, and maintaining effective communication throughout. With a focus on stakeholder engagement, the Project Manager will coordinate collaboration across diverse groups, support procurement and contract negotiations, and provide timely and accurate reporting to ensure accountability and transparency.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Project Planning & Advice – Lead detailed project planning, prepare project briefs to support decision-making, and provide specialist advice to ensure efficient delivery of project priorities and outcomes.

  • Project Management & Administration – Oversee project milestones, deliverables, risks, and scope changes while developing fit-for-purpose documentation and ensuring time, cost, and quality alignment.

  • Governance & Reporting – Support project governance frameworks, coordinate reporting processes, and deliver regular updates to the Executive Director and HTQ Board.

About You  

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with postgraduate qualifications (or be in progress towards postgraduate qualifications) in Business, Project Management or a related field or an equivalent combination of qualifications and workplace experience.  In addition, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing medium to large projects, ideally within a large and/or complex organisational context

  • High-level interpersonal skills, including the effective liaison and negotiation skills needed to develop and maintain strong working relationships with HTQ's 13 partners, including The University of Queensland

  • Demonstrated high level organisational ability, attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities

  • Previous project management experience within a tertiary and/or research institution would be highly valued

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check.
