The Compliance Operating Officer (COO) plays a critical role in setting the scope and framework for the Group Compliance function, and in supporting the execution, oversight, and continuous improvement of the Group’s compliance program. Reporting directly to the Group Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), the COO is responsible for operationalizing compliance frameworks, policies, and controls across the Group, and driving Compliance transformation projects.
Compliance requirements & Change management
- Ensure prompt identification, logging in, evaluation and formulation of a plan to address Compliance requirements from existing, new or amended laws, regulations, standards and contractual expectations.
- Collaborate with operational teams to identify gaps, assess their operational impacts and translate them into practical operational processes and define accountabilities and process ownership.
- Drive Compliance transformation projects, by coordinating teams and ensuring successful execution and delivery of the project.
Risk Assessment & Oversight
- Implement and maintain Compliance risk assessments and identify relevant risk mitigating measures to achieve a state of compliance within Group’s risk appetite.
- Develop and implement a compliance monitoring program ensuring that global policies, standards and processes are applied, suitable addenda and supplementary procedures established and maintained.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Support business units in embedding compliance requirements into operations.
Compliance Reporting
- Oversee or implement compliance-related technologies (GRC tools, monitoring systems).
- Develop dashboards and KPIs/metrics to track compliance performance and issues.
- Prepare reports for executive leadership and regulators
Required qualifications for Compliance Officer
- 7-10 years prior experience in risk management or compliance roles within an international / intercultural transformation context or consulting firms.
- Strong operational and project management skills, with prior experience in implementing risk mapping and compliance programs.
- Sound knowledge of the banking and financial industry and its regulatory environment.
- Superior attention to detail to identify and correct risky practices.
- Exemplify strong knowledge of payment industry protocols and best practices
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to accurately interpret complex documents and policies
- Strong time management and organizational skills and able to meet deadlines.
- Personal skills.
- Capability to collaborate with teams and all relevant stakeholders (incl. security, risk, sales and procurement stakeholders).
- Must be a strong communicator and capable of expressing oneself clearly both speaking and in writing
- Possess a collaborative personality and be open to suggestions from teams.
- Demonstrate natural resilience, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Should have a strong moral code and sense of ethics
- Fluency in French and English.
