What you’ll be doing
Within this new role you will manage the day-to-day accounting services in the specific service line to ensure that the team consistently meet deadlines and provide a first class and highly professional service at all times. You will also oversee resource planning for team members and participate in accounting related projects, creating best practices and developing efficient processes.
Operational
- Supports the Head of Jurisdiction in order to deliver a first-class professional service to clients, both internal and external
- Manage the timely and accurate production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reports
- Monitor the engagement profitability of all team clients
- Monitor the quality and service levels of team ensuring adherence to ISAE 3402 requirements
- Ensure financial statements prepared are in line with UK GAAP/IFRS or other appropriate standards
- Managing stakeholders expectations
- Monitoring all jobs of the client to ensure timely and efficient completion
- Contribute to business ad-hoc projects as required and integrate new technology into the team and wider business in order to streamline current processes and improve efficiencies
- Daily input of time on timesheet
People Management
- Planning and organising own client portfolio and team time planning
- Oversight of appraisals for all team members and conduct appraisals for senior members of the team
- Deliver and present internal short courses and training sessions
- Coach team in relation to client activities and Gen II procedures
- Coach team in relation to time management and prioritisation skills
- Attend client meetings in respect of accounting matters as required
Compliance and Risk Management
- Understands and complies with relevant organisational policies and procedures, supporting the Senior Manager to manage risks around the accounting function
- Understanding what is appropriate and acceptable in relation to AML
The ideal background for this role:
- Experience of developing and coaching others, including performance management of the team
- Ideally hold a recognised accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA)
- A minimum of 2 years’ post qualification experience
- Direct experience of producing and reviewing financial statements for a variety of corporate entities within various jurisdictions
- Adherence to ISAE 3402 requirements within a financial services environment or development of a control environment within a finance team
- Experience in a financial services environment, ideally in fund administration and/or real estate
- Exceptional understanding and knowledge of current industry and accounting legislation, regulation and working practices
- Exceptional knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP and a good understanding of other appropriate accounting standards
Role Location/Hybrid Schedule
This role is based in our Southampton office. Although the nature of most of the roles within Gen II cannot be classed as totally flexible, there is scope in some cases for a form of Agile Working. The different ways in which Agile Working can be undertaken is dependent on the demands and needs of the business, the office space available and the individual’s preferences and circumstances.
