Front Desk Manager
Provide daily supervision and guidance to the Front Desk. Ensure each area is managed in accordance with operating standards to maintain a professional image and superior customer service. Ensure that all reports are completed as required. Resolves quickly and timely on guest complaints, concerns or disputes. Responsible for the overall Hotel operations when serving as Front Desk Manager. Maintain and update front office training manual as well as ongoing training for employees.
Essential Functions:
- Adhere to Stein Eriksen Lodge Standards
- Assist in attainment or surpassing of all departmental and hotel goals
- Maximize customer service and enhance the guest experience
- Minimize employee turnover through proper training and motivating of employees
- Maintain open lines of communication with all departments within the Hotel
- Maintain highly visible program that solicits guest comments on a consistent basis
- Actively involved in the continued success of the guest recognition program
- Encourage the concept of employee empowerment by maintaining incentives that reward employees for responsive/proactive guest assistance
- Participate in the preparation of the Hotel business plan and yearly budget
- Inventory and maintain supplies needed by Front Office staff
- Manage budgeted expenditures according to regular occupancy forecasts and variations
- Supervise the selection, orientation, and training process of all department employees
- Conduct performance evaluations on all Front Desk staff
- Complete assigned reports properly, accurately and timely
- Ensure advance deposits are 100% current
- Review daily front office shift work for accuracy and completeness
- Edit payroll on a timely basis
- Manage incentive and reward programs to maintain a skilled and motivated work force
- Conduct meetings on a regular basis with Front Desk staff
- Ensure standards and cleanliness of public and private areas of the Lodge are maintained
- Do whatever necessary to help guests and fellow employees
- Ensure all reports neatly filed in binders daily
- Ensure all “call back” requests are called backed
- Ensure front desk and back office are neat, clean and organized
- Ensure wake-up calls are made timely and properly
- Ensure messages and faxes are properly logged and delivered
- Manage guest history program
- Follow up on all guest complaints in a timely manner
- Responsible for reviewing owner reservations
- Communicate with Rooms Director any concerns or comments
- Review Group Resume on group’s arriving
- Review daily arrivals and departures
Education, Experience, and Skills Preferred:
- High School diploma required/college degree preferred
- Two years supervisory experience in housekeeping/front desk areas
