Job Description:

We have an immediate need for a Senior Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. You will support the Corporate, MG and SG businesses in multiple systems, including Oracle R12. You will be responsible for booking JEs and completing reconciliations, as well as complying with SOX requirements by providing needed information and overseeing several SOX controls. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, at least 6 years of accounting experience with manufacturing accounting in their background; strong skills in Microsoft Excel; the ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and composure; strict attention to detail; ability to manage and adhere to tight deadlines; and excellent verbal and written communication techniques.

Primary Responsibilities

Position will perform general accounting duties including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Monthly Closing - prepare various journal entries including various corporate accounting areas such as hedge accounting for various types of derivatives, accounting for debt transactions in various currencies, reconciling intercompany variances, collaborating with various departments to ensure expenses are appropriately recorded, recording various entries for MG & SG businesses as required; review month-end balance sheet; analyze operating expenses; run and review Oracle and Hyperion reports

  • Oversee monthly lease accounting (ASC 842) activities as a key member of the Lease Accounting Center of Excellence; help maintain Lease Accelerator system

  • Oversee monthly cash and bank activities as a key contact to the Corporate Treasury team; help maintain Kyriba Cash Management system 

  • Prepare quarterly corporate schedules, year-end schedules

  • Perform accurate and timely balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned and participate in annual Balance Sheet reviews as assigned 

  • Participate in 5 SOX phases (I-III Documentation and Assessment, IV Interim Testing, V Year End Testing

  • Standardize and centralize General Accounting processes, identify best practices, and implement process improvements

  • Participate in quarterly PwC reviews and year-end audits

  • Other Corporate general accounting and project work as assigned

  • Strong demonstration of business ethics and integrity compliance

  • Personal Development: utilize Avery Dennison Performance Management System and tools to improve professional and personal development

  • Culture Alignment: drive evolution of accountability, collaboration, and trust across the organization and proactively link responsibilities to key OGSM (Objectives/Goals/Strategies/Measures) strategies

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, Accounting degree preferred.

  • 6+ yrs accounting experience; experience in a manufacturing company preferred.

  • Knowledge of US GAAP

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, specifically on the job experience with Macros, Pivot Tables and V-Lookup preferred.

  • Mainstream ERP and/or financial system(s) experience preferred

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Ability to lead project teams

  • Willing to work overtime as required

  • Capable of working independently with minimal guidance

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Good Problem solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and composure

  • A positive attitude along with a professional demeanor, and a willingness to learn.

Working Arrangement: Hybrid - Office & Remote, 3 days/week in office

Additional Information:

The salary range for this position is $71,000 - $95,000/ year.


The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting.
