We’re hiring a hands-on Quality Receiving Inspector to own the Receiving Inspection (RI) function end-to-end. This person will be the site SME for all incoming parts and documentation, ensuring purchased and returning product meets drawing/spec, PO, and certification requirements before release. The role also cross-trains into the CMM room to support dimensional inspection and flow through Quality.

Receiving Inspection (primary)

  • Perform visual, dimensional, and documentation verification on all incoming product (machined parts, raw material, hardware, coatings/heat treat returns, etc.) against drawings, specs, PO, and quality notes.
  • Establish/maintain part-specific work instructions for RI (checklists, sampling plans, gaging set-ups, photo references).
  • Review, scan, and archive all certs: C of C, material test reports, special process certs, FAIRs/PPAP, and test data.
  • Verify traceability/lot control; ensure conformance to customer standards (AS13100, SABRe flow-downs, S-1000, etc.).
  • Identify/document nonconformances; coordinate supplier corrective action (RCCA) and drive timely closure.
  • Communicate with sub-tiers to correct/replace nonconforming certifications; issue holds as needed.
  • Maintain RI area 6S, daily throughput metrics; propose Kaizen improvements.

CMM & Quality Support (secondary)

  • Train and operate CMM (PC-DMIS/other) for first-article, in-process, and final inspections as needed.
  • Create/modify basic CMM programs, fixture set-ups, and reports; assist with GR&R/MSA where applicable.
  • Support FAIR/PPAP data collection (Net-Inspect or equivalent) and certificate packages.
  • Partner with QE on risk-based sampling plans, inspection plans, and gage selection.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3+ years in aerospace/precision manufacturing receiving or dimensional inspection (or equivalent).
  • Strong blueprint reading & GD&T fundamentals (ASME Y14.5); able to interpret customer notes/specs.
  • Proficient with common gaging (micrometers, bore/height gages, pins, thread gages, surface finish).
  • Experience reviewing material & special process certs (HT, plating, NDT, coatings) and CofCs.
  • Working knowledge of FAIR/PPAP concepts and traceability.
  • Solid documentation skills (ERP/QA systems, scanning/archiving, Excel/SharePoint or similar).
  • Clear, professional communication with suppliers and internal teams.

Preferred/“Nice to Have”

  • CMM operation/programming (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar); will train the right candidate.
  • Familiarity with AS9100/AS13100, SABRe, and NADCAP special process certificates.
  • Experience with Net-Inspect/FAIR tools and InspectionXpert (or similar).
  • Prior involvement in RCCA (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) and MSA/GR&R.
  • ERP experience (SyteLine/Visual/etc.)

Working Conditions / Physical

  • Standing, walking, and lifting up to ~30 lbs as needed for incoming inspection and fixturing.
  • Clean, organized inspection and CMM environments.

 

Schedule: 40 hrs/week. We’re flexible; preferred window is 10:00AM–6:00PM.
