About the Role:
As a Structural Welder based in Sterling, VA, you will play a critical role in the construction industry by fabricating and assembling metal frameworks that form the backbone of various structures. Your expertise will ensure that all welded components meet stringent safety and quality standards, contributing to the overall integrity and durability of buildings and infrastructure projects. You will collaborate closely with engineers, fabricators, and construction teams to interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately, ensuring precise execution of welding tasks. This role demands a high level of attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols to prevent structural failures and maintain a safe working environment. Ultimately, your work will directly impact the successful completion of construction projects, supporting the creation of safe, reliable, and long-lasting structures.
PAY SCALE: Up to $28-30/hr DOE
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a structural welder in the construction industry.
- Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) or equivalent recognized credential.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of welding safety standards and practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multiple welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
- Familiarity with welding inspection tools and non-destructive testing methods.
- Previous experience working on large-scale construction projects.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of metallurgy and material properties.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
- Experience in the welding process of FCAW, butt welding- either mechanical or thermal.
- Perform various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding to join metal components.
- Inspect welded joints for quality and structural integrity, making necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Operate welding equipment and tools safely and maintain them in good working condition.
- Collaborate with construction and engineering teams to ensure welding tasks align with project timelines and standards.
- Adhere strictly to safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Document work performed and report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors promptly.
