The primary role of the Laundry Attendant is to be responsible for ensuring that clean linen and clothing are readily available for patients and staff. This position involves tasks such as sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens according to established procedures and standards. As a Laundry Attendant, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the laundry area. You will also handle the collection and disposal of soiled linens and maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Hours: Full-time (Monday – Friday 6am – 2:30pm) FTE = 1
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to,
  • Pick up, receive, and sort cloths and linens according to fiber, color, and soiled condition.
  • Operates washers and dryers in accordance with safety standards.
  • Handle the collection and disposal of soiled linens in a hygienic manner.
  • Inspect linens for stains, tears, or damage and report any issues to the supervisor
  • Supplies recommended quantities of detergents. Notify supervisor when supplies are low and need to be reordered.
  • Folds and places clean linens in the proper area on carts and in linen closets.
  • Must have the ability to accurately communicate orders by phone, in person, and written.
  • Maintain up-to-date laundry records in a manner with department policies and procedures.
  • Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Report any violation of OSHA Regulations to the supervisor.
  • Keep the floor clean of objects and dust mop when needed, at least once a day, more if needed.
  • Keep dryer filters brushed down and cleaned out 2 times a day, more if needed.
  • Keep tables, washers, and dryers wiped off with disinfectant daily.
  • Ensure that all equipment is shut off at the end of the shift.
  • Wear proper PPE (personal protective equipment) when performing job duties.
  • Demonstrates proper precautions and procedures for infections, electrical, steam, and chemical hazards, heavy dust, and environmental and disinfectant solutions.
  • Helps with the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and the appearance of laundry areas.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, and safety standards within the laundry department.
  • Ensures the proper maintenance of all equipment; plans for repair and/or replacement of used and damaged equipment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, employees, and the public.
Job Requirements include but are not limited to,
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
  • Knowledge of laundry procedures and equipment.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to handle repetitive tasks and lift heavy loads, as required.
  • Ability to follow directions and understand the importance of cleanliness and sanitation of institutional and environmental cleaning/laundry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) at all levels of the organization.
