Position Overview:


This is a part-time internship for a Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Intern at Spirit Electronics located in Phoenix, AZ. A Circuit Card Assembly Line Intern will primarily assist in the production of printed circuit boards (PCBs) by performing tasks like component placement, soldering, inspection, and quality control checks on an assembly line, while gaining hands-on experience with electronics manufacturing processes under the guidance of experienced technicians; this role will involve following detailed work instructions, adhering to safety protocols, and contributing to overall line efficiency.

Due to US Export control laws, must be a US Citizen, Permanent Resident or have protected status.


Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Component placement: Accurately place electronic components onto PCBs using appropriate tools and techniques, following placement diagrams.
  • Soldering: Perform manual soldering operations on circuit boards using soldering irons, ensuring proper solder joints.
  • Inspection: Visually inspect assembled PCBs for quality issues like missing components, incorrect placement, or faulty soldering, using microscopes when necessary.
  • Quality control: Adhere to established quality standards, reporting any defects or discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Machine operation: Learn to operate basic assembly line equipment such as pick-and-place machines, solder paste printers and reflow ovens under supervision.
  • Data entry: Record production data, including component usage, cycle times, and quality metrics.
  • Process improvement: Assist in identifying potential areas for optimization within the assembly process.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and report basic assembly issues, collaborating with technicians to resolve problems.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college pursuing a bachelor's degree (or graduate degree)
  • Basic understanding of electronics principles and components.
  • Fine motor skills for precise component placement and soldering.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and work instructions.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry.

Job Type: Part-time


Schedule:

  • 10 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person. No remote or hybrid options.
