ITS unit context:

The Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidency is transforming its organizational structure to align roles with industry standards and future needs. The Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) Solutions team (ITSAI) is responsible for developing and maintaining advanced AI platforms that support the World Bank Group’s mission. The AI Platform Engineer will play a pivotal role in building scalable, secure, and cost-effective AI infrastructure, enabling rapid development and deployment of AI solutions, and ensuring robust governance and ethical oversight in line with the new ITS Job Architecture.

Scope of Work

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable AI platform infrastructure and services using cloud technologies.

- Implement and manage MLOps pipelines for continuous integration, delivery, and monitoring of AI models.

- Develop standardized, secure API invocation patterns for AI services.

- Build and maintain a catalog of prebuilt AI packages and reusable components.

- Integrate ethical AI principles, data privacy controls, and compliance requirements into the platform.

- Provide technical guidance and support to AI Engineers and development teams.

- Research and evaluate new AI platform technologies and methodologies.

- Develop comprehensive documentation and architectural patterns for the AI platform.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and implement AI models and platform services, including generative AI and enterprise search applications.

- Lead the development of scalable, secure cloud architectures for AI solutions (using Azure, Google Cloud).

- Standardize API invocation patterns and ensure modular, secure integrations. Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices in cloud architecture and data handling.

- Address performance and production issues using logging and monitoring tools.

- Mentor and guide technical teams, and communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

- Create detailed architectural documentation and design patterns, with knowledge of security standards and compliance.

Selection Criteria

Professional Experience

* Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or related field.

* 5-7 years in AI platform engineering, MLOps, or related roles.

* Experience building scalable, production-grade platforms.

* Demonstrated experience in cloud-native and hybrid web development projects.

* Experience in prompt engineering and AI governance.
