Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of an Employee Benefits (EB) Account Manager is the design, funding, compliance, and service of employee benefit plans.

An Account Manager manages daily interactions with clients, insurance carriers, and other stakeholders toensure proper expectations are set and communicated clearly and concisely.

To succeed in this role, the EB Account Manager should thoroughly understand all types of medical and ancillary benefit plans offered in California, follow the firm's internal client service
delivery and compliance timelines, have a baseline knowledge of CA human resources and employee benefits regulatory compliance, know the financial impact of medical/ancillary plans that are offered, and keep up to date on the healthcare reform changes.

 

  • Client Management & Communication: Manage a book of business by building strong client relationships, promptly responding to requests, and maintaining a 95% retention rate

  • Plan Administration: Handle all technical and administrative account functions, including system builds, enrollment setup, coverage changes, compliance, and audits

  • Marketing & Renewals: Oversee new and renewal business marketing in alignment with agency procedures and timelines, with support from internal teams

  • Cross-Selling & Risk Solutions: Identify opportunities to enhance benefit programs and pursue cross-sell strategies that align with client risk and capital management needs

  • Carrier & System Maintenance: Maintain accurate digital files, perform tasks on carrier websites, and update agency management systems consistently

  • Team Collaboration & Tools: Collaborate with producers and team members via Microsoft Teams, tracking tasks and sharing updates to ensure cohesive support

  • Professional Development & Compliance: Stay current on industry trends, attend required trainings/meetings, and adhere to all agency policies and procedures

Qualifications:
  • Experience & Expertise: Over five years of experience in employee benefits coordination or claims management, with deep knowledge of various benefit types (medical, dental, disability, FSA, HSA, COBRA, FMLA, etc.)

  • Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of state and federal employee benefits compliance laws

  • Communication & Presentation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and confidently in public settings

  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality

  • Technology Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams

  • Travel & Client Engagement: Willing to travel at least 25% of the time for client visits, networking, open enrollments, and industry events

  • Professionalism & Teamwork: Demonstrates maturity, emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively, while consistently meeting deadlines

This job requires presence in the office on a hybrid schedule as agreed with the manager

Salary range is $90K to $100K per year.
