JOB SUMMARY
A Production Supervisor of Winding at Doble Engineering will be responsible for managing workflow and overseeing other members of the Winding team. The Production Supervisor will also develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Additional duties include making recommendations and implementing improvements to winding processes and methods. This position is located at Doble’s Accident, Maryland facility and will report to the Production Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Directly manage a team of Coil/Column Winders and Lamination Steel operators.
- Ensure the quality of workmanship for the winding/lamination departments.
- Instruct, review and guide the team and correct problems, answers questions from team members.
- Provide training for new employees.
- Evaluate staff performance; prepare and conduct employee performance reviews.
- Reviews drawings, instructions, prints and samples to ensure accurate production.
- Take resistance reading and do continuity checks on coils.
- Perform quality audits throughout the winding/lamination processes.
- Ensure all products leaving department are defect free and are correct to the schematic.
- Assists in the design and layout for current products and/or new products.
- Reviews scheduling with leadership.
- Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
- Orders required materials for department operation.
- Conserves materials by minimizing waste.
- Ensures all team members are working safely and efficiently.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering degree is preferred
- Some college or trade school is preferred
- Additional experience may be considered in lieu of the minimum level of education
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Experience supervising a team in a manufacturing or production environment
- Industrial wiring knowledge
- Experience working with electro-mechanical assemblies
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):
- Development of documented process control, job instructions and standard operating procedures
- LEAN Manufacturing process knowledge
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of safety protocols
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced team environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds. Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds.
Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Hourly Pay Range Minimum $30.51 - Midpoint $38.14
