About the position:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of buildings and equipment, ensuring a safe and functional environment. This includes tasks like preventative maintenance, responding to repair requests, and maintaining various building systems. They may also be involved in coordinating with contractors, maintaining records, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preventive Maintenance:

Perform routine checks and maintenance on building systems, such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and security systems, to prevent potential issues

  • Repair and Troubleshooting:

Diagnose and repair malfunctions in building equipment, machinery, and systems, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing components

  • Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, inventory, and safety logs

  • Safety Compliance:

Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and procedures

  • Coordination:

Collaborate with other maintenance staff, contractors, and building occupants to address maintenance needs

  • Emergency Response:

Respond to after-hours emergencies and take appropriate action to resolve issues

  • Other Duties:

May include landscaping, minor carpentry, painting, and other general maintenance tasks

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience level: Minimum 5 years of commercial building maintenance
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, as well as experience with hand and power tools
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with colleagues, contractors, and building occupants
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others
  • Computer Skills Experience with Outlook Office and CMMS computerized maintenance management systems

Preferences:

OSHA 10 or Trade Certification/Training
