About Us
Do you want to work for a company that is playing a leading role in delivering the UK’s transition to net zero? EET Hydrogen is a leading player in energy transition, and is developing one of the first large scale, low carbon hydrogen production hubs in the world. This will produce (in its initial phases) 1,350MW of hydrogen capacity more than enough to power a city like Liverpool.
Our mission is to be the leading low carbon hydrogen producer in the UK, initially serving industrial and power generation customers. And we are central to the innovative HyNet Northwest project which is redefining energy to achieve regional low carbon ambitions and national policy targets.
You will be joining us at a time of rapid growth and can look forward to a rewarding career with opportunities to develop specialist skills and knowledge in this important area of the energy sector.

Please Note, we work with a carefully selected set of recruitment agencies, and we are not looking to add to the current preferred suppliers list. We are unable to accept representations from agencies that are not on that preferred supplier list.
Why Join Us?
This is a rare opportunity to influence environmental and sustainability performance at the heart of the UK’s low carbon hydrogen transition. You will be joining a business committed to safety, innovation, and continuous improvement, with scope to grow and develop as our projects evolve from construction to operation.
The Role
We are looking for an Environmental Lead to drive the development of environmental permitting, standards, and management systems that will support our new Hydrogen projects through design, construction, and into operation.
This is a pivotal role, working closely with EETF and EETH HSSEQ, Operations, Engineering, and Assurance teams to ensure that environmental risks are effectively managed, compliance obligations are met, and industry best practice is applied. You will also play a key part in supporting the delivery of COMAH and permitting submissions and ensuring our Environmental Management System meets ISO14001 standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on EETH environmental planning and permitting requirements, including planning conditions and EPR pre-operating conditions.
- Support the development and delivery of COMAH submissions, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Develop and implement environmental management systems aligned to ISO14001 and wider EET frameworks.
- Monitor environmental performance during project delivery, setting and maintaining standards for construction and operation.
- Provide expert guidance to project and operations teams on environmental compliance, risk management, and best available techniques (BAT).
- Engage with regulators (Environment Agency, Competent Authority, Local Authorities) and industry working groups to represent EET Hydrogen.
- Support and contribute to company-wide sustainability and climate resilience initiatives (ISO 14090/14091, ISO 26000).
About You
You’ll be a confident and collaborative environmental professional with the ability to provide clear advice across all levels of the business. Ideally, you will have:
- A degree (or equivalent) in environmental studies, environmental science, or environmental management.
- Chartered Environmentalist (IEMA [now ISEP] or equivalent) or Chartered Engineer status.
- Proven experience delivering planning consents and permits, with strong knowledge of environmental regulation.
- Experience in COMAH, oil & gas, or refining environments (desirable but not essential).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge constructively.
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive, detail-focused approach.
