The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Anchorage International Airport, is looking for an Engineer/Architect 2 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:
As an Engineer/Architect 2 at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, you will
- Lead delivery of the Airport’s Capital Improvement Program for buildings, guiding projects from concept through successful closeout.
- Direct multiple facility maintenance projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, stay on budget, and finish on schedule.
- Supervise staff and advance the Airport’s building permits program.
- Collaborate with Airport leadership as well as Federal and State officials to move projects forward.
- Partner with consultants and contractors to design and implement high-value improvements.
- Provide technical expertise to shape future airport development.
- Support operational goals through additional assignments that enhance airport performance.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located at the Anchorage International Airport (ANC) on the third floor of the South Terminal.
Your typical day will consist of
- Overseeing projects and coordinating with Airport staff, consultants, contractors, and leadership.
- Monitoring and providing guidance for the Airport’s building permits program.
- Identifying new projects, developing scopes of work, and preparing budgets for management approval.
There will be opportunities for training which may include travel, however, there is no required travel for this position.

- Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Partnering: Develops networks and builds alliances; collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals.
Special Note:
Must be certified Professional Engineer or Architect in the State of Alaska.
Valid driver`s license.
Incumbent must pass an FBI fingerprint based, criminal history records check per 49 CFR Part 1542 and a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment to obtain an Airport issued Identification Badge. If access to US Customs and Border Protection is needed to carry out duties of their job, they must also pass a criminal history check per 19 CFR Part 122.181-188.

Position Duties
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and one year of professional experience as an Engineer/Architect 1 or Engineering Associate with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent.
Special Note:
Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
