Your Role:
As the Assistant Taproom Manager, you'll be a key player in the daily life of the taproom. The Assistant Taproom Manager will work closely with the Taproom Manager to maintain a safe, clean, healthy, and sustainable taproom environment, while ensuring an enjoyable and consistent Alvarium guest experience. The Assistant Taproom Manager will assist in meeting taproom financial objectives while managing day-to-day staff scheduling, inquiries and concerns. The Assistant Taproom Manager will be the point person for all taproom staff and day-to-day operating issues, and will be charged with escalating issues, as appropriate, to the Taproom Manager. This position is also responsible for modeling key attributes and cultural values of the organization while acting as an ambassador in the promotion of the Alvarium brand. You'll play an essential role in creating a happy, welcoming environment for our team, our guests, and their four-legged friends. (Please note that Alvarium is a dog-friendly establishment).
Key Responsibilities:
- Create an enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere for every Alvarium guest.
- Model the values of the organization while acting as an ambassador in the promotion of the Alvarium brand.
- Oversee taproom supply needs, including purchasing, pricing, inventory management and maintaining vendor relationships.
- Manage the Beertenders' scheduling, shift changes, attendance tracking and time-off requests.
- Assist with planning and executing Taproom and private events. This includes identifying potential event opportunities, meeting with prospective guests, negotiating rentals, and assisting with planning and logistics.
- Work scheduled tipped Beertender shifts (whether in the main taproom or private event space) each week.
- Assist with hiring, performance reviews, training, and monitoring Beertender performance.
- Provide regular operational updates and performance reports.
- Assist in management of Alvarium's online storefront & online inventory systems.
- Act as a point person for employee concerns, problems and suggestions. Work collaboratively with Taproom Manager and owner to proactively address any potential employee relations issues.
- Respond to requests from local organizations regarding donations & community events.
- Training: maintain a list of qualified trainers. Create a checklist for training and monitor and evaluate new Beertender progress to ensure all items are covered, and be able to sign off on training. This includes the monitoring of completion of TIPS training, creation and maintenance of training aids, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) and other documentation as needed.
- Monitor staff performance and identify any performance issues and training needs on an ongoing basis. Provide positive and/or corrective feedback to team members as warranted and be able to retrain and fix any issues.
- Assist in the oversight of daily cash processes and reporting.
- Maintain & facilitate the cleaning of all brewery draft lines to ensure that the highest quality product is being served to Alvarium guests. This includes maintaining the quality and cleanliness of the coolers, along with product within the coolers.
- Guarantee an exceptional guest experience by ensuring that all assigned workspaces are clean, organized, and compliant with safety protocols and the expectations of Alvarium Beer Company.
- Create, update and maintain all documented procedures to ensure continuity across the team.

Requirements
What We're Looking For:
- Minimum of 2 years of taproom, bar, or restaurant management experience.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others with enthusiasm and positivity.
- This position includes a mixture of daytime & nighttime hours as well as the availability to accommodate a flexible and varied schedule for weekends and holidays.
- Skilled at addressing and resolving employee and guest concerns with ease.
- Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, thoroughness, and accountability.
- Skilled at handling multiple shifting priorities with a high level of personal initiative and independence.
- Effective in managing time while meeting goals and productivity standards.
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
Expected Work Week:
- Full-time 37.5 hours per week (with 30 minute unpaid break daily) with two days off.
- Days off & working schedule are determined based on the event calendar & needs of the brewery.
- The brewery is closed Monday & Tuesdays to the public, however, those are still working days for administrative roles for meetings, inventories & ordering, etc. The working hours on these days generally range from 9am-5pm.
- Wednesday through Sunday hours are determined based on taproom hours of operation as well as the week's beer releases & events.
- The position will be tentatively scheduled behind the bar and tip-eligible as follows:
- Friday or Saturday.
- Sundays.
- Fill-ins as necessary based on events & scheduling necessities.
Physical Requirements
This position is highly physical and requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 55 pounds frequently.
