About the Role: Effective School Solutions (ESS), a rapidly expanding organization that is transforming in-school mental health and behavioral support for elementary, middle, and high school students, is seeking an experienced behavioral health leader to join its team as a Regional Behavioral Support Director (RBSD)

The RBSD will oversee and provide supervision, consultation, and programmatic leadership to ESS behavioral staff and school-based programs across California. This leader will ensure the highest level of fidelity in ESS’s trauma-attuned behavioral programming, coach and develop staff, and collaborate closely with district leaders to strengthen services for students with behavioral and emotional challenges. 

Key Responsibilities 

Clinical Supervision & Coaching 

  • Provide weekly group supervision to clinicians and behavioral health staff in identified supported programs. 
  • Conduct in-person program visits to observe classrooms, model interventions, and deliver feedback. 
  • Facilitate regional supervision groups and office hours to provide guidance on trauma-informed, restorative, and behavioral interventions. 
  • Supervise BCBA candidates (as needed) and support professional development in trauma-attuned practices. 

Program Consultation & Fidelity 

  • Assess district program implementation, space design, staffing models, and overall program effectiveness. 
  • Conduct site fidelity checks to ensure consistency in behavioral protocols, data collection, and interventions. 
  • Lead IIRP planning, classroom observation, and implementation guidance. 
  • Proactively recommend program modifications, refinements to interventions, and alternative data tracking strategies. 

Collaboration & Communication 

  • Partner with ESS regional and national leadership to review programs, barriers, workflow, and quality improvement (QI). 
  • Collaborate with district leaders and ESS Regional Directors to provide ongoing consultation and responsive support. 
  • Deliver regular program updates, fidelity reports, and recommendations to ESS leadership. 
  • Co-lead training initiatives in partnership with ESS’s Director of Behavioral Programming. 

Tool & Protocol Development 

  • Support the design, piloting, and refinement of ESS’s behavioral frameworks, tools, and playbooks. 
  • Support the creation, piloting, and refinement of behavioral assessment tools and models (e.g., ABC Classroom Management Model).  
  • Collaborate to enhance guidance for classroom management systems and behavioral level protocols. 

Hiring & Staffing 

  • Participate in interviewing and selecting candidates for behavioral programs. 
  • Support onboarding, mentoring, and capacity building of behavioral staff. 
  • Provide ongoing training in trauma-informed practices and ESS-developed tools (e.g., Quick FAST, BRT, IIRP). 
  • Partner with regional leaders to support staffing assignments and clinical strategy. 

 Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree or higher in psychology, social work, applied behavior analysis, or a related field (BCBA or LICSW/LCSW strongly preferred). 
  • Minimum of 5+ years of leadership experience in school-based or clinical behavioral programming. 
  • Deep knowledge of trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, and multi-tiered systems of support. 
  • Strong supervisory, coaching, and leadership skills, with experience mentoring clinical and behavioral staff. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both internal teams and district partners. 
  • Willingness to travel regularly within California.
