The Senior Manager, HSSE Excellence, will own the RWECE HSSE contractor management, governance, assurance, and development programs across RWECE. The role will work cross-functionally with contractors, procurement, project execution, and operations teams to establish management systems, tools, and processes for contractor selection, management, assurance, performance, and development. This role will ensure that sourced contractors meet our expectations, are effectively onboarded, and that their performance is monitored.

This role will contribute to the development, maintenance, measurement, and optimization of the RWE Clean Energy, LLC (RWECE) HSSE Management System, and the software platforms, community page(s), etc., in which it is integrated, as well as overseeing RWECE’s assurance review program.

This role will involve the design, development, revision, and continual enhancement of HSSE-related policies, programs, procedures, forms, and checklists, in accordance with internal requirements, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The individual in this role must possess demonstrable knowledge, skills, experience, discernment, and interpersonal abilities directly related to the North American energy industry, and the continual improvement of HSSE (Health, Safety, Environmental Protection & Physical Security).

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Build and develop RWECE Strategy for Contractor HSSE assurance and development
  • Build and develop RWECE Strategy for HSSE assurance and development
  • Build and develop the contractor and assurance review management system
  • Develop a deep working relationship and collaborate with legal teams, business units, procurement teams, and operational HSSE teams
  • Serve as a lead auditor on contractor and RWECE assurance reviews
  • Improve upon prequalification, requalification, and evaluation processes, providing performance data through sustainable systems that support our continual improvement strategy
  • Establish supplier onboarding processes that walk contractors through RWECE’s HSSE management system expectations regarding competence, maturity, planning, support, operational controls, performance monitoring, and continual improvement
  • Develop and deploy associated systems, tools, and dashboards to manage HSSE Contractor Performance across the RWECE Procurement organizations
  • Establish tools and reporting for Procurement teams to equip them with HSSE data for contractor business review session

 

Job Requirements and Experiences:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field of study
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Minimum 10 years in the field of Occupational Health & Safety or a closely related field
  • Extensive experience in developing and maintaining robust contractor management and assurance review programs
  • Certification or equivalent experience with Quality Management Systems and 8D/CAPA Methodologies
  • Preferably certified internal Auditor according to ISO 9001, 45001, and/or ISO 14001
  • Experience in leading internal and external assurance reviews
  • Occupational Health & Safety management
  • Supplier quality management, compliance program management, IMS auditing, Continual  Improvement Methodologies, or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management
  • Design, implementation, and continual improvement of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Management Systems (e.g., ANSI Z10, ISO 45001)
  • Microsoft 365, Visio, Excel, Tableau, and Power BI
  • Various energy technologies (e.g., solar, wind, battery storage, high voltage transmission, oil and gas, nuclear, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 (i.e., Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong experience with Tableau, PowerBI, and Azure
  • Demonstrated competency in the HSSE management discipline, particularly with administrative law, ‘IBR’ standards, and consensus standards related to HSSE
  • Skills in preparing and presenting concise and accurate information to executive leadership, internal and external customers, stakeholders, etc., across the organization
  • Mathematical/statistical knowledge and affinity to work with numbers/statistics regularly
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Independent problem-solving skills and ability to influence stakeholders to gain a desired result
  • Strong initiative and self-confidence to find solutions and solve problems independently
  • Reliable and systematic manner of working, customer orientation, resilience, and being able to work centrally to manage multiple stakeholder expectations
  • Detail-oriented and consistently striving for high-quality results
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively via technology, as well as in-person at various locations across the North American regions
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

 

Work Environment:

This position is an office-based role that involves some travel and visits to other RWECE offices and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.
